UNITE Spring 2026

Have you ever wondered what it would look like if every youth group in the Black Hills got together for just one night of doing youth group together? That’s exactly why we created UNITE!

We’re inviting all middle and high schoolers to join us at Calvary Baptist for an epic night of worship, connection, and a wild color war. It’s all about standing "side by side" in one spirit and showing our community what it looks like when we love one another.

The Mission: We’re not just here to get messy—we’re here to serve! We’re asking every student to bring a new pack of kids-sized socks (sizes 6-12). These will go straight to families in the Clothe-A-Kid program at Love INC. It’s a simple, tangible way to show that you have something valuable to offer our community!

The Details:
Date: Saturday, May 9, 2026
Time: 5:00–7:00 PM
Location: Calvary Baptist Church, Rapid City
Cost: FREE!

What to Wear: Grab a white t-shirt you don’t mind getting stained and bring a towel!

We are also seeking volunteers to help with bike repair, maintenance, and basic education for participants—your skills can make a life‑changing difference!

Why Mentorship?

“Counsel in a person’s heart is deep water;
but a person of understanding draws it out.” — Proverbs 20:5 (CSB)

Mentorship matters because no one is meant to carry life’s burdens alone. In Scripture, when Moses grew weary, Aaron and Hur stood beside him, lifting his arms and ensuring the work continued. In the same way, a trusted friend or mentor can provide strength, wisdom, and encouragement when the road is hard. As Ecclesiastes reminds us, a cord of three strands is not easily broken.

if you or someone you know is interested in finding a friend to help walk through the trials of life, we would love to be there to support you. Just give us a call or email at 605-206-3515 or sturgis@love-inc.us to start the journey.

Taking Our Weariness to God

"Listen to my words, Lord; consider my sighing. Pay attention to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to you. In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you and watch expectantly."
— Psalm 5:1–3

We often feel the need to "clean up" our prayers before approaching God, as if He only accepts polished words and perfect faith. But David shows us that true intimacy with God involves two things that often feel like opposites: honest groaning and watchful expectation.

The Honest Groan David asks God to "consider my sighing." This is the wordless ache of a weary soul. Groaning is not a sign of weak faith; it is a legitimate form of prayer. God does not ask you to mask your pain with hollow positivity. He is a Father who leans in to hear the raw, unedited sighs of His children. He understands the language of our tears and the weight of our silence.

The Watchful Expectation David follows his cry by saying, "I plead my case to you and watch expectantly." Like a sentry on a city wall, David lays out his burdens and then stands back to look for God’s response. We do not groan as those without hope. We bring our broken pieces to the Lord, trusting that just as surely as the sun rises, our King is at work.

You don't have to choose between being honest about your struggle and being certain of His promises. You can do both: cry out in your pain, then watch with confidence for His grace to move in your life.
